Well it comes as no surprise that Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren, is reportedly planning to file for divorce, according to telegraph.co.uk
Several sources, including People magazine, state that Elin was “violently angry” about the television advertisement Woods filmed for Nike, which featured the voice of Earl Woods, Tiger’s late father. I heard mixed reviews from marketing people who rated this commercial anywhere from “brilliant” to “horrible”; I found it to be downright creepy and Elin reportedly thought it was cheesy and totally inappropriate.
It has also been reported that Elin wanted Tiger to take more time off before returning to golf. If you recall my commentary following Tiger’s first press conference since Thanksgiving Day Eve – I was pretty certain Tiger was paving the way to re-emerge as a golf professional – and the press conference had little, if anything to do with repairing his marriage. It was all about golf and image for Tiger Woods.
Many believe Elin boarded a private plane while Tiger was playing his final round of the US Masters.
I found it to be poetic justice to watch Phil Mickelson win the US Masters; while Tiger crawled away in 4th place. Mrs. Mickelson is dealing with the effects of cancer treatment – and it was heartwarming to watch their embrace once Phil Mickelson won the US Masters. If you recall, Phil Mickelson had taken time off from playing golf when his wife’s cancer was originally diagnosed. He stated he wanted to spend more time with his wife as she battled her illness. Talk about a study of contrasts between Mickelson and Woods!
This is such a sad story for everyone involved – for Tiger, for Elin and for his innocent 2 children!!!
I guess having it all wasn’t enough for Tiger. And now I wonder what – if anything – he thinks he still has?
