What could Larry King and King Henry VIII of Tudor England possibly have in common? The answer: Marriage! Both have been married more times than most people can possibly imagine. King Henry VIII was married six times and Larry King has been married eight times; including being married twice to his second wife.
On that note – Larry King and his wife, Shawn Southwick-King have both filed for divorce – stating irreconcilable differences as the cause of the breakup. The King’s have been married for 13 years and have two sons, ages 11 and 9.
The 76-year-old host of CNN’s long-running “Larry King Live” show and Southwick-King, 50, are both seeking joint custody of their two children. King has petitioned the court to not award any spousal support to Shawn Southwick-King. Larry King’s spokesman has stated that his major concern is the welfare of his children.
Rumors are swirling around stating that Larry King and his sister-in-law, Shannon Engemann have been engaged in an affair. Engemann denies the rumors and told TMZ: “I did not have an affair with Larry. He’s like a father to me”. Well who the heck knows the truth with the celebrity crowd? Although one cannot argue with the veracity of Engemann’s statement that Larry King is like a father to her – Engemann is 45 years old!!
So the boxing gloves come on as the King’s fight for rights to their multi-million dollar empire – with the children’s best interest always foremost in their hearts ( yeah, right). Let the games begin for who wins ownership of their homes in Utah, Beverly Hills and whatever else their millions have provided them with. They have everything money can buy – except happiness in their relationship.
