Mid-January is bringing arctic air to the Northeast this year. But the good news is the warmth of Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Here are seven (7) tips for heating up the flames of love and passion this Valentine’s Day – and all year long!
- Roses symbolize love and romance. Start your day by giving your partner a red rose(s). And yes, women can give men roses too! You can give your partner one long-stemmed rose (which I think is very sexy) or a dozen long-stemmed roses – the number doesn’t really matter.
- Write a very personal love note or poem. It doesn’t have to be long or fancy or worthy of the Pulitzer Price – just something heartfelt and sincere that says “I Love You” in your own unique way. Anyone can purchase a Valentine’s Day card on the way home from work, but a handwritten, homemade card is sure to set Cupid’s arrow flying in your direction!
- Send an early morning romantic text and/or voice message for your lover so they wake up to this lovely message. Who doesn’t love a love message to start their day?
- Chocolates are considered to be an aphrodisiac food (in other words it gets you in the mood for romance) so give your partner some chocolate in whatever their favorite form of chocolate is: i.e. chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered raisins, M & M’s etc.
FYI – Chocolate contains both a sedative and stimulant. The sedative has a relaxing effect on you and lowers your inhibition; the stimulant increases your activity level and enhances your desire for physical contact.
- Wear some perfume. Perfumes are made of natural ingredients such as almond, vanilla and other spices and herbs, which are known to act like pheromone – a hormone that heightens our sense of smell.
- Pop the Champagne because champagne is considered to be the drink of lovers! This is because it lowers one’s inhibitions and produces a feeling of warmth throughout the body. If you are not into champagne (or any alcohol for that matter), try some nice hot chocolate with marshmallows. There aren’t many things more romantic than sipping some champagne or warm hot chocolate by the fireplace with your lover.
- Music – add some love music to your relationship. Pick one of the old classic love songs by Elvis Presley or Marc Antony or mix up a CD with you and your partner’s contemporary personal favorites. Play the music while at home and in your car while driving around. I don’t know about you but romantic music is bound to get me in the mood…
Roses, cards, romantic text messages and voice messages, food, drinks, perfumes & music – these are all easy tips to heat up the flames of love and passion on Valentine’s Day and all year long!
